Brief CV

Petros Nicopolitidis serves as a Professor at the Department of Informatics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). He graduated from the Department of Informatics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in March 1998. In June 2002, he was awarded a PhD from the same Department. From January 2004 until today, he has been serving as a faculty member (DEP) in the Department of Informatics. His research activities lie in the scientific area of computer networks and includes, among others, intelligent protocols, data broadcasting systems, hybrid wireless–optical networks, optical access and core networks, nanonetworks, and IoT networking technologies. His published work includes 90 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals (indicatively: IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Transactions on Computers, IEEE Communications Letters, etc.), 96 papers in the proceedings of international peer-reviewed conferences (indicatively: IEEE ICC, IEEE VTC, IEEE GLOBECOM, ACM NANOCOM, etc.), 2 papers in the proceedings of Greek conferences, 2 book chapters in international volumes, one co-authored book published by an international publisher along with its translation into Greek, and two edited books published by an international publisher. He serves as an Editor for four scientific journals (IEEE Access; Security and Communication Networks, Hindawi; International Journal of Communication Systems, Wiley; Security & Privacy, Wiley) and as a reviewer for numerous journals in the field. He has also served as Program Chair in international conferences and as a member of the Technical Program Committee in more than 100 international conferences. He has been the Scientific Coordinator for AUTH in the projects ARMONIA (Research–Create–Innovate 1) and Maestro (Research–Create–Innovate 2), the latter focusing on the use of IoT technologies for the prediction and management of forest fires.
