Brief CV

Amalia N. Miliou is a Professor in the School of Informatics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She is a Senior Member of the IEEE and holds PhD and MSc degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Florida, USA, as well as a BSc in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She joined the faculty of the School of Informatics in 1993, where she continues to serve as a Professor.
Her teaching portfolio includes the undergraduate courses Optical Communication Systems, Communication Systems, Photonic Technology, and Management of Computer Networks, as well as the postgraduate courses Optoelectronic System Technology and Network Infrastructure.
She is listed among the top 2% of scientists worldwide, according to Stanford University’s global rankings. To date, she has supervised nine (9) doctoral dissertations, with an additional five (5) currently underway. Her primary research interests include optoelectronic circuits, optical switching, optical RAM, converged fiber–wireless technologies, 5G, B5G, and 6G networks, as well as secure optical communications based on chaos. She has authored 95 papers in peer-reviewed journals and 98 papers presented at international conferences. She is also the author of three (3) textbooks used in her courses and ten (10) book chapters.
Professor Miliou has served as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) member for twenty-five (25) international conferences. She is a member of the editorial board of five (5) journals and acts as a reviewer for 22 scientific journals. She has participated in twenty-six (26) research projects, serving as coordinator in five (5) of them, and contributes as an evaluator for national and international R&D programs.
